Nicola Kemp: The Lost Art of Listening as a Leader
In this episode of the podcast, I speak with Nicola Kemp, Editorial Director at Creativebrief.
Join us as we discuss the power of truly listening. Listening has become a lost art and it is incredibly important when it comes to creating a positive and creative culture in the workplace. We have to get comfortable with ambiguity and get intentional about listening to the people around us.
We also discuss why we must stop the unsustainable workload people currently face and look at the pace we are setting because the best work is not possible in the current ‘busy’ environments. We need to be intentional about building in points of rest.
Key takeaways include:
- We have got to stop squeezing mid-life women out of the workplace, we are losing so much innovation
- Let’s change how we view TIME
- Nobody's life is in a fixed state. At every life stage we have new challenges and opportunities and we need to allow for this flexibility and understanding in the workplace
Nicola is Editorial Director at Creativebrief and co-founder of the social learning practice Good Shout. She is passionate about changing the narrative and experience for women in the creative industries and she won The Women in Marketing Journalist of the year award for her work championing diversity in the creative industries.
